This workshop tries to raise the awareness of various IT sustainability management issues as they relate to academic research and business practices (also know as the Green IT movement). The concept of sustainability and Green IT will first be defined and discussed. The environmental impact of IT will then be examined. The critical issues of Green IT driving factors, major initiatives, success factors, and possible obstacles will also be explored. IT sustainability is not simply a technical problem. It is now considered part of corporate strategy and has major implications for national policy. This is a very promising emerging research area. A number of potential research topics and directions will be identified along with the practical issues.
