讲座人:张铮 研究员。Dr. Zhang Zheng is currently a Principal Scientist at Future Energy Acceleration & Translation (FEAT) Centre & Structural Materials Department in Institute of Materials Research & Engineering (IMRE), Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore. He received his Bachelor degree from Dept of Materials Science and Engineering in Tongji University in 2002 and Phd from Dept of Materials Science from National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2009. His research focuses on surface science, surface analysis, surface enhancement via shot peening and more recently he has led 8 projects on coating development via cold spray and other thermal techniques, He has authored and coauthored 152 journals publications with H-index of 41.

 

讲座简介:Singapore’s aviation and aerospace sectors are key drivers of domestic economic growth, reinforcing the nation’s position as a leading regional air hub and contributing about 5% to the Singapore’s GDP in 2025. Thermal spray technologies have long played an important role in aerospace’s maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) activities. Established processes such as Atmospheric Plasma Spray (APS), High Velocity Oxy-Fuel (HVOF), and Flame Spray are widely used for component restoration, wear protection, and thermal barrier applications. More recently, cold spray has emerged as a promising addition to the thermal spray family, attracting growing interest for aerospace applications due to its low heat input, reduced oxidation, and potential for structural repair. This presentation will introduce several projects supported under the Singapore Aerospace Programme (SAP) that employ conventional thermal spray technologies, particularly APS and HVOF. Their performance and application outcomes will be compared with equivalent coatings and deposits produced using cold spray with objects to highlight the technical advantages, limitations, and future opportunities of cold spray for wider adoption in the aerospace industry.
