Prof. Marina Freitag is a Royal Society Research Fellow and Chair of Energy at Newcastle University, spearheading research in sustainable energy materials and intelligent IoT devices. Her groundbreaking work spans from fundamental coordination chemistry to practical device implementation, with a focus on high-efficiency dye-sensitized solar cells for ambient light harvesting.

 

讲座内容:The exponential growth of Internet of Things (IoT) devices presents a critical challenge in sustainable energy provision. High-efficiency ambient photovoltaics integrated with artificial intelligence offer a promising solution for self-powered, smart IoT systems.

The content of this lecture is mainly about the use of new copper complexes as redox mediators to develop dye-sensitized solar cells (dsc) suitable for indoor light harvesting. The research progressed further with the development of dynamic dimeric copper-coordinated redox shuttles. These complexes switch between Cu(I) dimers and Cu(II) monomers during the redox process, achieving a dual electron transfer mechanism that enhances charge transport while minimizing recombination.  These findings not only advance the development of ambient photovoltaics but also open up new avenues for sustainable smart technologies .
