讲座内容: Introductory Nano-Mechanics Abstract : Nano-sciences/technologies are rapidly developing into engineering disciplines. Their potential applications request throughout understanding of mechanical behavior of nano-sized materials and devices. This has raised significant challenges to undergraduate and graduate education in mechanical engineering. This presentation is based on the speaker’s lecture-notes of a graduate course given in the University of Alberta (Canada). An introductory description will be given in this presentation of basic concepts and research topics on mechanical behavior of nano-sized materials. The presentation will cover nanoscale materials, intermolecular and surface forces, adhesion mechanics, surface stress-effect of micro/nano beams, elastic models for carbon nanotubes, fluid mechanics at micro/nano scales, bio-mechanics at nanoscale, and molecular dynamics simulations.
