讲座内容: We believe to have obtained a better insight into the conditions at which simple systems may show transitions towards more complex systems. A simple example is the Benard transition at which a fluid in rest starts transporting heat by convection rather than by conduction. A much more intriguing transition is that at the origin of Life where abiotic molecules combine to become biochemical systems. It will be shown that two exergy-related parameters allow a universal representation and a plausible explanation of such transitions, which have been observed in physical and (bio-)chemical systems, but may equally take place in economic and social systems.
