一、医学与健康系列讲座简介
新港报告《医学与健康》系列讲座是通过积极发展新医科，倡导多学科交叉合作，对医学和健康领域学术前沿与热点问题进行探讨，以促进不同领域对医学和健康问题开展合作研究工作。同时兼顾严谨创新、学术性和简明易懂、科普性，让不同学科背景的广大师生，了解更多医学与健康的知识。推动师生与社会各界乃至全球各界的交流沟通，以讲座交流促进科技创新，激发学术创造。
The series of lectures on “Medicine and Health” in Chuangxingang (Inovation Harbor) focus on the academic frontiers and the hot issues in the field of medicine and health. The lectures will help to develop New Medical Discipline, advocate the cross-cooperation among multi-disciplinary scientists, and meliorate the collaboration research on medical and healthy problems by different regions. In addition, the lecturers will give the consideration that the integrity and novelty should combine with the conciseness and popularity Thus students and teachers with diverse backgrounds from various disciplines will obtain more understanding and new insights into cutting-edge medicine and health. This active communication between the teachers as well as the students and the peoples from all walks of life in the country and even the world, will promote the scientific and technological innovation and stimulate academic creation and development.

讲座摘要：
Selenium is an essential trace element in the human body. Its deficiency associates with tumors, immune diseases, cardiovascular diseases and metabolic diseases, and also is considered as an environmental risk factor for two endemic diseases in northern China: Keshan disease and Kashin-Beck disease. There is a long history for research on selenium biology in our university. The research team of our university won the Klaus Swasch Prize of the International Union of Inorganic Biochemistry twice times, due to the excellent work in discovering the relationship between selenium and Keshan disease and Kashin-Beck disease. Selenium plays its biological roles by 25 selenoproteins, which are essential for the normal development, the normal structures and functions of cartilage. The understanding of the role and molecular mechanism of selenium on cartilage not only enriches the theory of selenium biology, but also contributes to the development of new treatment of osteochondrosis.
硒是人体必需的微量元素, 其缺乏与肿瘤、免疫疾病、心血管疾病及代谢性疾病有关，也被认为是我国北方地方病：克山病和大骨节病的环境危险因子。我校有长期研究硒生物学的传统，由于在发现硒和克山病、大骨节病的关系方面的卓越工作，两次获得国际无机生物化学联合会克劳斯 斯瓦施奖。硒通过25种硒蛋白发挥生物学作用，它们对软骨的正常发育及正常结构和功能的维护至关重要。充分了解硒对软骨的作用及分子机制，不但丰富了硒生物学的理论，也有助于开发新的骨软骨疾病干预措施。
