Abstract：
We will discuss some recent progress on the isometric embedding of surfaces to a three dimensional Riemannian ambient space: the recent work of Li-Wang on the local solvability of the nonlinear system and non-rigidity, and the Lu's local Heinz's estimate for the problem. We will also discuss some open problems in this direction.
