讲座摘要：
Skopos theory and functionalism have been severely criticized, from the start, by scholars advocating the concept of equivalence as the one and only criterion for translation quality. Some of these criticisms are based on intentional misunderstandings, others may be due to the fact that many scholars had to rely on second-hand reports because the basic documents of skopos theory were only available in German. This talk responds to the criticisms one by one, drawing on the original documents by Vermeer and others.
