摘 要
Transient chaos is ubiquitous in natural and man-made systems. Dynamically it is characterised by the presence of a non-attracting chaotic saddles in the state space. In this talk, I will introduce the concept of transient chaos as a dynamics phenomenon and then give a few applications in which its presence is essential for the understanding, analysis and manipulation of the dynamical system under consideration. The applications include optical-metamaterial system, MEMS and NEMS, and quantum-dot systems.
