Abstract of the presentation:
Over the past few decades, the goals of power electronics converter design have been to reduce the size, weight, and maintenance, while increasing overall energy efficiency, safety, and reliability. This is especially true for modern transportation applications like electrical vehicles and more electric aircraft where the space and carrier capability is limited. However, there are challenges related with transportation applications such as fault tolerance for safety concern, harsh environment and more strict electromagnetic compatibility requirement. Dr. Wang will share his research and development experience on high power density, harsh environment converter design, electromagnetic interference and other related research topics.

 

讲座人介绍

Dr. Ruxi Wang received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi'an, China, and the Ph.D. degree in the Center for Power Electronics Systems (CPES), Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, USA, in 2004 and 2007, and 2012, respectively. In 2012, he joined the Global Research Center of General Electric Company, Niskayuna, USA as a Lead Electrical Engineer. His research interests include high-power-density converter design in transportation application, Healthcare electronics, electromagnetic interference technology, more electrical aircraft system, advanced components and packaging technology. He has published over 40 papers in refereed journals and international conference proceedings. He holds four U.S. patents, two Chinese patents and has six U.S. patents pending. Dr. Wang received the William M. Portnoy Award for the Best Paper published in the IEEE Energy Conversion Congress & Expo in 2012.
Dr. Wang has been served as General Chair for 2011 CPES annual conference and session chairs and topic chairs for Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE) from 2013 to 2015.
Since 2015, Dr. Wang is an associate editor for the IEEE Transaction on Industrial Applications and also served as Vice Chair for Power Electronics Devices and Components Committee in IEEE Industry Applications Society.
