Magnetic sensors have been widely used in many areas that include data storage industry, health care, non-destructive evaluations, geomagnetic and space explorations. In this talk, a few recent progress of magnetic sensors will be reviewed. I will mainly focus on some of our research in MEMS oscillator sensors and high-sensitivity magnetoresistive (MR) sensors using magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs).
MEMS oscillators has been proved to detect atto newton force and has been demonstrated as ultra-high sensitive magnetometer (10-11 emu) at ambient environment, that could be used as chemical sensing via detecting the magnetic particle, and as a high sensitive magnetic field sensor.
