报告摘要:Hemivariational inequalities (HVIs) and variational inequalities (VIs) are closely related. In the context of applications in mechanics, VIs are concerned with convex energy functionals, whereas HVIs are concerned with nonsmooth and nonconvex energy functionals. The notion of HVI was first introduced by Panagiotopoulos in early 1980s. During the last three decades, HVIs were shown to be very useful across a wide variety of subjects, ranging from nonsmooth mechanics, physics, engineering, to economics. This talk is devoted to the modeling of some contact problems as HVIs, well-posedness results and numerical analysis of the HVIs. The problems are nonsmooth and non-convex, and are a rich source of challenging issues for mathematical analysis and numerical solution.
