讲座摘要：Most materials are crystalline, and their crystallographic symmetry is best described by methods of group theory. Crystallographic point groups will be introduced with sample applications to single crystals. In addition, methods of predicting degenerate microstructures and polydomains will be introduced and applied to orientation and deformation variants resulting from phase transformations in bulk and thin film systems.
