讲座内容: 外国语言文化论坛(第五十一讲) 陆小飞博士简介            陆小飞博士现任美国宾夕法尼亚州立大学文学院“吉尔瓦茨”语言与语言学杰出青年教授和应用语言学系副教授,广东外语外贸大学英文学院“云山讲座教授”; 其主要研究领域为语料库语言学、计算机辅助教学和第二语言习得,在语料库语言学领域享有较高的国际声誉;已在国际权威期刊发表论文十余篇,包括《应用语言学》、《语料库语言学国际期刊》、《现代语言学》、《TESOL季刊》等;他的第一本关于语料库语言学研究方法的专著《语料库标注和分析的计算方法》于今年三月在德国施普林格出版社出版。 他教授的主要课程有:语料库分析的计算与统计方法、语料库语言学研究、技术辅助语言学习的设计与研究、外语教学中的技术应用、二语习得理论、语言评估方法、语言文化和社会交往。 讲座一:Syntactic complexity in college-level English writing:         Differences among writers with diverse L1 background 时间:2014年4月22日周二下午16:10; 地点:逸夫外文楼B座10楼学术报告厅 摘要:This talk reports the results of a corpus-based study of the effect of college-level English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners’ first language (L1) on the syntactic complexity of their English writing. When the EFL learners’ L1 backgrounds were ignored, significant differences emerged in only three of the 14 measures between the NNS group and the NS group. However, when the learners’ were grouped by their L1 backgrounds, significant differences emerged between the NS group and one or more NNS groups in all 14 measures, and the NNS groups demonstrated drastically varied patterns of difference from the NS group. This research thus provides second language writing researchers and teachers with useful insight into the specific effect of learners’ L1 background on the syntactic complexity of their second language writing.
