讲座内容: 讲座名称:Teaching (Experimental) Physics in Germany 讲座时间:2014年1月16日(周四)周四上午8:10--9:30 讲座地点:主楼A104 讲座人:Dieter H.H. Hoffmann 讲座内容:In Germany we have a worldwide (almost) unique tradition to teach experimental physics based ondemonstration experiments. In this lecture I will try to demonstrate the basic idea of these courses. The lecture will start with a short introduction of Technical University Darmstadt and then discuss(when time allows) four pieces of experimental physics. 1. Equations in Physics: A short introduction to undergraduates about the meaning of physics equations, using the example of the world wide best known equation . 2: Free Fall experiment and analysis: Some basic ideas about velocity, acceleration and the physics of free falling objects. 3:TheBrachistrochrone (shortest time) Problem. A brachistochrone curve or curve of fastest descent, isthe path that will carry a point-like body from one placeto another in the least amount of time. The body isreleased at rest from the starting point and isconstrained to move without friction along the curve to the end point, while under the action ofconstant gravity. 4:The hour-glass problem addresses the question of how much a running hourglass weighs. Is itmore, less or equal than compared to the static problem? 5: The Egg cooker: Non electronic egg cookers were used until recently. The amount of waternecessary to cook eggs depends not surprisingly on the number of eggs tobe cooked. However, surprisingly the amount of water decreases the moreeggs you cook. Some thermodynamic problems.
