讲座内容: 讲座名称: Supernovae, neutrinos, and the origin of the elements 讲座时间: 2013-5-13(周一)14:30 讲座地点: 中1-3113 讲座人: Prof. Charles Joseph Horowitz,DepartmentofPhysics,IndianaUniversity 讲座内容: Supernovae are gigantic stellar explosions that can outshine a whole galaxy.  During the next supernova in the Milky Way we may detect thousands of ghostly neutrinos.  These very weakly interacting particles have a fascinating tail to tell about the origin of the chemical elements.   The neutrinos provide information on nuclear reactions during the explosion that make new elements.  In particular, the neutrinos may tell us where all of the gold in our galaxy is from.
