摘要:We will discuss a number of qualitative properties of the heat equation on R^n, which are easy to understand at one hand, and are of long lasting influence on the other. These include: the maximum principle, log gradient bounds, monotonicity of energy and entropy, heat kernel bounds.
We will discuss extension of these properties to the manifold setting by Li-Yau, Hamilton and Perelman etc.
Some connections to current research on Ricci flow will also be touched.
