报告人简介：Prof. Shinji Kimura is the Associate Dean of Graduate School of Information, Production and Systems (IPS) at the Waseda University. He was born at Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. He received the B.E., M.E. and Dr. of Eng. degrees in information science from Kyoto University,Kyoto,Japan in 1982,1984，and 1989, respectively. He was an Assistant Professor at Kobe University from 1985, was an Associate Professor at Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST) from 1993, and has been a Professor of Waseda University since 2002. He is interested in the formal and timing verification of logic circuits, the hardware/software codesign methodologies,reconfigurable hardware, and the low-power design. He has served the steering committee chair of ASP-DAC (Asia and South Pacific Design Automation Conference) since 2022. He is a member of IEICE, IPSJ, ACM and IEEE. He has been a fellow of IEICE since Sept.2015.

报告简介：Approximate computing is to simplify arithmetic operations like 207 x 312 as 200x 300 with some computation error and is a promising way to reduce the power consumption of logic circuits for error tolerant applications such as convolutional neural networks. Approximate
multipliers have been studied hard since convolution operations include a lot of multiplications. This talk presents several approximate multipliers which have been developed in our laboratory for ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) and FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array).
