Kleij  讲座简介: In this seminar, the transformation of CO2 into value-added, more complex organic molecules is discussed, in particular the formation of (functionalized) heterocyclic synthons. Investigation into the reuse of CO2 as a molecular synthon in the production of fine chemicals and polymers has intensified much over the last decade. An area of high activity is the synthesis of cyclic organic carbonates (COCs). Our group became interested in the recycling of CO2 into COCs and related products, and we have developed a series of Lewis acid catalysts for challenging combinations of substrates thereby expanding the application potential of these commercially attractive compounds. Various new concepts have been introduced including domino approaches, substrate-directed CO2 transformations and the use of functional COCs as allylic and propargylic surrogates in synthetic chemistry. Particular examples will be discussed to illustrate the usefulness of nonreductive CO2 conversions and the unique potential of these modular COCs (and related molecules) empowering elusive stereo- and enantioselective transformations through (transition) metal catalysis. 主办单位:前沿科学技术研究院
