In this talk, I’ll briefly introduce our relevant research works in statistical modelling of damage and fracture in brittle materials. A few case studies will be given, including damage evolution-induced catastrophe, fractals in fracture, scaling and size effects of strength, fracture precursors and lifetime prediction, defect engineering in semiconductor nanoceramics, and barrier behavior in polymer nanocomposites.
