讲座内容: 新港报告“语言文学”系列 讲座题目:第四讲  语言认知系列  双语能力如何影响决策过程? 讲座时间:2019年11月30日14:30-16:50 讲座地点:创新港涵英楼新港报告厅(5-2W204) 讲座人:蔡振光副教授(香港中文大学)Associate Prof. CAI Zhenguang(Chinese University of Hong Kong) 讲座内容: 世界上60%以上的人使用一种以上的语言,双语或多语现象早已在全球成为常态。然而,成为双语者并不仅仅意味着多了一项语言技能,而且也在微妙地改变我们对世界感知和思考的方式。此次报告将揭示双语能力如何影响感知和认知过程的实证研究结果,具体将展示:(1)两种语言在思维/大脑中紧密相连,使用一种语言意味着激活/抑制非目标语言;(2)由于一种语言需要被抑制,使得双语者的认知控制系统更加熟练,从而提升双语者在其他领域的认知控制能力;(3)双语者在做决策的时候,用母语思考会倾向于感性思维,用第二语言则更倾向理性思维。   With more than 60% of the world’s population speaking more than one language, bi/multi-lingualism has become the norm rather than exception in the global world. However, being a bilingual does not simply mean the addition of a language skill - it subtly changes the way we perceive and think about the world. In this talk, Associate Prof. CAI Zhenguang will present empirical findings concerning how bilingualism affects perception and cognition. In particular, Three aspects will be shown:(1) the two languages are closely interconnected in the mind/brain and using one language meaning the activation/inhibition of the non-target language; (2)the fact that one language needs to be inhibited allows for a more “practiced” cognitive control system, hence sharpening a bilingual’s ability of cognitive control in other domains; (3)bilinguals are more emotional when making decisions in their first language but more rational in their second language.
